Raz tensed alongside Cori for a split second, pulling out his combat knife again instinctively.
"Wha?!" he said in a quick whisper as he simultaneously realized he was being put on.
"...FUCKER!" he half yelled at Cori, pushing her playfully and then quickly giving her a serious look for reassurance that she was just messing with him.

Cori pouted as she was shoved back (jiggle) and looked up at him resentfully.
"All I wanted to do was press you up against the wall..." she sighed and started to walk away... when all of a sudden a very -real- noise came from the corridor behind them, like someone or something was at the fork in the sewer they'd just passed.

Raz was about to get some very exciting feelings in his stomach and the areas immediately above and below due to Cori's emotionally disclosing comment, but unfortunately never got a chance to become acquainted with them: the noise from behind them scared the bejeezus out of him, causing him to double-take between the tunnel and Cori, with an expression that screamed, "Oh fuck, please tell me that was you--it wasn't, was it!"
Of course he had no time to say that because at that moment a large grey rat scuffled through the tunnel past them, grinding its hideous teeth and slashing its tail against the tunnel walls.
"...Was that a dog?" was all Raz could muster, with a little alarm but mostly relief.

As the rat/moster had dashed by, Cori had stumbled back against the opposite wall. She was splayed against it, legs apart and her full weight against it. She was panting slighting with surprise, fear, and some trace of excitement. She looked down the alley after the rat and didn't seem to have words. Then she looked up at Raz, tousled red hair falling back and framing her face.

Her eyes flicked to Raz. Her chest heaved once more. Then she shoved herself off the wall.
"Okay, so which direction now? We could follow it, see what it's up to, or see if we can backtrack it, maybe find it's lair." she strained her ears, listening for the fading footsteps. "Quick! Which do you want to do?" she was bouncing on the balls of her feet, ready for an adventuring. Anything would be more fufilling than this guy's lack of action, though it was kinda cute in a way.

Raz immediately jumped into action, even though he was slightly disappointed that Cori didn't stay helpless and ravaged looking. Highly predictable male fantasies apparently only last for a few seconds at a time, he thought humorlessly.
"LET'S FOLLOW IT!" he shouted, his voice echoing hideously, especially since it cracked a little.
No! Indications that puberty isn't finished! My only weakness! he thought, miserable and paranoid that Cori would give him some kind of condescending death-blow of a look.

Cori came to a stop with him but was poised on the tips of her toes, straining to continue after the beastie. But with the echoes of their clanging footsteps just fading out they were left only with silence and their own heavy breathing. There was no scratching claws scuttling along the cement, no churning water to indicate the rats location, no smell to give them any sort of hint. She squinted into the blackness, willing something to jump out at her. Not literally, although she mused for a second that it might be kinda bad-ass to be jumped by a mutant sewer rat and survive. Well, maybe that was normal down here... who would ever know?
She fell back onto her heels, standing normally. (jiggle)
"I guess... the fountain. I mean, you can't figure out where the hell it is, right?"
And then in an oh-so-movie-moment, Cori slowly raised her head to the celing... and was promptly dripped on with something green and gross.
"Definitely the fountain." she declared, wiping her face.

"Right," Raz said resolutely, trying not to laugh at Cori's face being hit with slime, "to the fountain."
"Watch it be just sitting in the exit when we get there, rabid and vicious and ready to kill..." he walked forward confidently in the direction he had come from earlier. In an attempt to keep Cori (read: Cori's body) from completely usurping his attention, he started humming a sea shanty he had heard some crazy old guy singing on the docks last week.

Cori smiled at him, not smirking or laughing particularly, then reached out to wipe the slime off his cheek, fingers barely feeling the bone through the soft skin and softer touch. Before he could respond, before she got too... weird on him, she was turned around and climbing up the ladder, jean clad legs disappearing into the darkness above.
